Thank you for this beautiful post, Jon. I had a "Zach moment" yesterday. I was at a graduation at Southern NH University (huge, in a stadium) and there as a video of graduates who had overcome incredible odds. One of them was a young man who had survived cancer and his words of advice to other graduates were...... "Keep moving forward." Zach is still with us.
Thank you sending this, that Zach would be 20 stuns me. What you have done with those four years, four years of becoming, four years of listening to the steady drumbeat of Zach’s Rules for Life, is awesome. I still have and wear Zach’s T shirts, they are among my favorites. People ask questions. Who is Zach? And I tell them about a young boy with courage and how his family is honoring that courage. The stop and think and sometimes share their own stories. I think in a way, Zach is helping them deal with their own pain.
As for the world today, well my math skills are not yours, but we collectively are in a state of rapid change. Rapid change = Choas + fear + anger = disorder + confusion. I do, if history holds true, that from disorder comes reorder in time and so I hold out hope for the future.
